BOYLE WHEEL AND PINION CUTTING ENGINE
The Boyle wheel cutting engine is a robust and larger version of the Chronos style engine. Built in Frome Somerset this is serial No 32. and is equipped with gallows and centers for pinion cutting. The footprint is 24″ X 12″ X 15″high. and weighs 13 Kilos. The plate has the following wheel counts;-58,70,74,75,78,80,90,96,100,108,112,114,118,120,124,128,132,144. These can be subdivided to give a very good range of counts. The Ball Bearing spindle is sized to take 7mm bore Thornton cutters and is mounted on an adjustable block for centering and has a two step pulley which can be swapped around and put on the motor shaft to vary the speeds. A larger pulley is supplied that lowers the speed for pinion cutting. Two wheel arbours with draw bars are supplied together with a draw bar that will be suitable for 8mm collets. Power is supplied by a 240 volt single phase 62 watt Fracmo motor which is on an adjustable plate for belt tensioning. A suitable length of belting will be supplied.
