8MM HORIZONTAL BENCH MILL
An unusual horizontal mill that looks to have been used for single operation of very small parts and likely uses would be slitting screw heads or blocks mounted on shafts or light milling. The table is raised by the lever to a preset stop on the side of the machine and can be adjusted up or down. The small table has a center pivot so small jigs or work holding devices can be changed, there is a plate mounted which is retained by a single screw that came with the machine. The table can be moved on the X and Y axis by knurled screws and the is some small angular adjustment as well. These would be required when setting the machine up to move the work piece to the correct position. The center T slot on the table would be for a suitable clamp to hold the work down. The table could be adapted to take feed screws and would become a very useful precision mill. A V belt grove is visible but could be run with a small flat belt. Bearings are bronze and are in excellent condition. There is no makers mark to be found but looks very likely its origin is Swiss or German. There is a single 10mm screw hole in the base for mounting to a bench. The Machine weighs 8.5 kilos so it is collection only but could take it to Brunel or Birmingham clock and watch fairs.
